These are the pictures of my first draft, there are still things that I'm not entirely happy with but I will change them in time for my final draft.

Dressing Room Photo Edit

On this photo I did two things to edit it. The first was, I noticed one of the lights on the mirror was not working and so I clone stamped one of the working light bulbs over the top of the broken light. I did this to make my magazine look more professional.  I then altered the brightness and contrast levels to just brighten the picture up a bit.

James Photo Edits

Here is a comparison between the original photo I took and the final edited version of the photo.

As you can see, I cut out the photo from it's original background and placed it on a new, more exciting background.

I also used the clone stamp tool to fix the gaps in the model's hair.

I then turned up the contrast on the photo to make the photo appear sharper.

Cover Background Colour Decision

I came across a dilemma today whilst working on my magazine. I was unsure as to which colour looked best as the background colour for my front cover, therefore I took a picture of both colours (blue and yellow) and sent it to five members of my target audience and asked them which they preferred. Four out of the five agreed that the yellow background worked better and so I have decided to follow their advice and use yellow.

Emily Photo Decision

Out of the photos I took the other day of Emily for my contents page, I think this photo works best as her facial expression is very fun and quirky. I also like the finger point as this directly involves the reader in the artists world.

Emily Photoshoot

Here are all the photos from my photoshoot yesterday with my model Emily. I will be using one of these photos on my contents page.

Photo Decision for Pop Duo (Double A)

The photos I decided to use from my photoshoot with my pop duo are these.
This photo will be on my front cover.

This photo will be on my contents page.
I chose these photos because I really liked the facial expressions of the models and I thought the photos were very light hearted and quirky, which is what I am aiming for with my magazine.

James Photo Decision

I decided to use this photo as I thought it was very fun and I love the model's facial expression.

Main Artist Clothing Decision

After my previous post concerning my girl bands clothing I contacted each of the models and asked them to send me pictures of their clothes that were bright, summery and all either shorts, skirt or dresses. This is what they sent me.

I selected this dress.

I felt this outfit was too dark.

I selected this outfit.

I liked the shorts from this outfit but paired them with a different top.

I like this dress but it doesn't fit in with the other clothes I have selected.

I think this top works well as it is very bright.
After looking at these options I decided a good colour scheme to pick was a red/orange colour scheme. This works well as red is a very passionate colour and orange is a somewhat exotic colour. I think these are very positive connotations for the band.

Pop Duo (Double A) Photoshoot

These are all the photos from my photoshoot with the pop duo I plan to put on my cover and contents page.

Girl Band Clothing Research

I have been looking at different girl bands to help me style the band in my magazine. Two popular bands at the minute are The Saturdays and Little Mix, and so I have found some photos of them to see what they wear and take inspiration from them.

In these photos I have noticed that the members of the band each wear slightly different types of clothes however there is something about there clothing that ties them all together. So in the bottom photo they are all wearing very pastel colours and shorts. This helps to show that the band are a unit and so I think I will try to find some sort of colour scheme to tie the models together.
I also noticed that in these photos the girls all are wearing shorts, skirts or dresses which means that their legs are on show. Therefore I will also try to replicate this with my clothing choices for my models.

James Photos

Here are all the photos from my photoshoot yesterday, I am looking for an image to go on my front cover out of these.
I am trying to show through the photo that my artist is teen pop sensation that is the love interest of thousands of teenage girls. I think these photos encapsulate that.

Photo Location Inspiration

I have decided to take my photos for my girl band in the dressing rooms at The People's Theatre. Whilst trying to think of somewhere to take my photos I saw these photos taken in the dressing room and this inspired me to use the place as a location for my shoot.

Main Artist Change

After talking with four members of my target audience today, I have decided to change my main artist from being a mixed gender duo to being a girl band consisting of three members. I think this will actually work better for my magazine as my target audience is young girls and so they will see the main band as role models to aspire towards.

Initial Drawings

Front Cover - this is my initial idea of what I'd like my cover to look like. I'm still slightly unsure with my colour scheme but I really like the gold.

Contents Page - I haven't filled in all the information on the contents page yet as I want to wait until I've spoken to some members of my target audience first. I think the pink in the background of this page is a bit too bright for my liking, I will perhaps go for a slightly paler shade when it comes to actually putting together my magazine.

Double Page Spread - I haven't actually drafted out my article yet but I do know that I want it to be an interview. I'm also not entirely sure of the photos I'm using for this page yet, I'll wait until I've taken a few and then decide which one I like best.
